ASB Overview

ASB stands for Associated Student Body. At Bonney Lake High School, it refers both to the entire student body and to the student government that represents students.

ASB student leaders help plan activities, promote school spirit, support clubs and events, communicate student ideas, and participate in decisions about student activity funds. Their work is guided by the BLHS ASB Constitution, school and district policies, and Washington State rules for ASB programs.

The Bonney Lake High School Associated Student Body—better known as ASB—is the student government that represents the voice and interests of all BLHS Panthers. Every student at Bonney Lake High School is a member of the Associated Student Body.

Led by elected and appointed student leaders, the ASB Government works with students, staff, and administrators to strengthen school culture and create a welcoming, spirited, and connected Panther community. Student leaders help plan schoolwide events, activities, assemblies, dances, service projects, and other opportunities that encourage students to participate in school life.

ASB Government also helps oversee the use of student activity funds. Student leaders participate in reviewing budgets, approving purchases and fundraisers, and making decisions about how ASB resources can best support BLHS clubs, athletics, activities, and the broader student body. These decisions are made with adult guidance and must follow the BLHS ASB Constitution, Sumner-Bonney Lake School District policies, and Washington State requirements for the responsible use of public funds.

Through ASB Government, students develop leadership skills, practice representative decision-making, amplify student voice, serve their school and community, and help make BLHS a place where every Panther can feel known, valued, supported, and involved.

Students can participate by attending ASB-sponsored events, joining or starting a club, sharing ideas and concerns with student leaders, serving on a committee, or running for an elected ASB or class office.

The ASB Leadership Team forms the student government. Elections are held in the spring of every year to elect incoming class officers. The number of officers are based on class size.

You can be involved in a wide variety of ways from participating in an ASB sponsored event, to starting a club, or even running for office.

In one word, you. All Panthers are members of ASB. In addition, students who pay the ASB fee during registration at the beginning of the year receive a special emblem on their BLHS student IDs which allows for personal discounts and savings on a huge number of BLHS activities – plays, sporting events, dances, and more.
