BLHS sports move to 4A, South Puget Sound League; no changes for SHS
1/30/24
Every four years, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) goes through a reclassification process for high school sports. Due to increased enrollment at Bonney Lake High School, they will move to a 4A classification in the South Puget Sound League (SPSL) starting Fall 2024. BLHS was previously 3A in the Pierce County League (PCL). Sumner High School remains a 4A SPSL school.
SPSL schools will be placed in one of two divisions for some sports, which will likely be baseball, basketball, football, golf, fastpitch, softball, track and field, and wrestling. SPSL schools and divisions are as follows:
SPSL North
|
SPSL South
|
The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District is committed to providing quality education based athletic programs for our student-athletes in support of our promise to know, value and support every student, helping them to graduate ready to pursue a promising future. We believe that the SPSL will provide positive opportunities for all of our programs at all levels in support of this promise.
We appreciate your support as we transition into this new classification cycle. You will receive updates on schedules and other league information prior to the WIAA fall season. If you have questions in the meantime please reach out to your Building Athletic Coordinator.
