BLHS grad helps craft Star Wars teaser during Super Bowl

Two men wearing red "Champions" shirts are standing together and smiling in an outdoor setting with trees and a clear sky in the background.

If you were watching Super Bowl LX this month, you may have seen a 30-second teaser trailer for an upcoming Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu.

One of our own Bonney Lake High School alums helped create the Big Game Spot ad, which aired to millions of viewers during Super Bowl commercials.

Nate Markquart, Class of 2020, worked alongside a team in the audio-visual division of Trailer Park Group, where he works as a production coordinator. The spot took months of work and features the Mandalorian and Grogu characters dashing through the snow on a wagon pulled by a team of tauntauns.

“Our team worked on the spot throughout the entire process, adjusting the script, coming up with new ideas, story beats, and lines, creating storyboards, writing music, all the way to the final edit,” Nate said. “It was one of the coolest experiences of my life!”

Nate was inspired to follow a career in storytelling and filmmaking in part through the classes he took at Bonney Lake High School. Way to go!
